Welcome to fourth grade!
A little about myself: This is my fourth year teaching fourth grade at Running Creek Elementary. I have a B.A. in Human Development and a masters in Curriculum and Instruction I am passionate about teaching and passionate about being a life- long learner. In my classroom, I believe in teaching students to also be life-long learners and giving them the tools and support they need not only to succeed in school, but to be independent thinkers, learners, and helpful, contributing citizens. We will be working with material that is engaging, we will laugh, and we will have fun while we learn.
Outside of school, I enjoy most activities outdoors, such as horseback riding, hiking, and fishing. I am married and have three dogs, Annie, Timmy, and Heidi. We enjoy playing ball and going for walks. We also have a few horses, a few cows, and some goats. My husband and I live on a small ranch outside of Kiowa. We are excited to be welcoming our first child in December 2019!
My biggest life goal is to teach students that have an authentic love for learning, and I am looking forward to enjoying this year with your student!
Reading logs for homework?
In Mrs. Klick's class, there will be no daily or weekly reading log to fill out, however, I am expecting that students read at home. Research has shown that the more time students spend reading, the better they are at reading writing. However, research has also shown that there is not a huge benefit of reading logs in elementary school. Reading logs tie reading to school, and I want students to learn to love to read. Not for me, not for an assignment, but for themselves and all of the fun and knowledge it brings to our lives!
For this reason, I will not be assigning reading logs. However, I am expecting that students read outside of school. One awesome way they can read is with a family member or friend. Reading and being read to both have great benefits. We are never to old for a bed-time story!
