Degrees and Certifications:
My name is Kaitlyn Murray. I am in my second year of teaching Special Education. This year I have the pleasure of working with the students in the Severe Needs classroom. I am so excited!!
I graduated from Metropolitan State University of Denver (crazy long name, I know) in December, 2015. I started at Elizabeth High School in the spring of 2015 as a long-term substitute teacher in the Severe Needs classroom. Last year I worked with students in the general education classes who needed support. I am planning on being here and staying as the Severe Needs teacher for the next couple years at least.
Outside of school I am an archer, a horse back rider (when I visit my family in Texas where my horse lives), a hiker, a traveler, and a runner. I will be completing runs throughout the year from a 5k (3.1 miles) to a half-marathon (13.1 miles). I also like to attend sporting events here at the high school and professional games (Mammoth, Broncos, and Rockies). I am also a fan of the performing arts. I love attending plays (mostly musicals) at the Denver Center of Performing Arts.
This year I will be teaching Life Skills Science, Life Skills Language Arts, Life Skills Math, Life Skills History/Government, and Connections. My main goal for this year is to have all of the students be as independent as possible. Students will be learning not only the academics from each class, but also how to apply what they learn to their own lives.
