BA in Psychology MS in Special Education, Autism Spectrum Disorder
Ms. Amanda Roberts
Welcome to my classroom! This is my 12th year at Singing Hills Elementary School and my 8th year teaching special education at Singing Hills Elementary School. Prior to teaching, I worked as a special education para-professional for 3 years. I went to Colorado University at Boulder and received my BA in psychology. I then went back to school a few years later at Western State Colorado University for my special education teaching certification. I also received my Master's Degree in Special Education, specializing in Autism Spectrum Disorder, from Grand Canyon University.
My husband and I have 4 wonderful boys (2, 4, 6, and 8 years old) and I am lucky enough to have three of them here with me at Singing Hills. I love being part of our Singing Hills Family, and am so excited that I get the opportunity to work with so many amazing children!
This year I will primarily be working with the SSN (Significant Support Needs) students. These students typically spread their time between the general education classroom and the special education classroom. I work very closely with the general education teachers, specials teachers and para-professionals in order to cater each students learning to their individual abilities and goals. I also work with some students with mild-moderate needs with small group instructional support for reading, writing and math.
I am very excited about this year, and look forward to partnering with families to ensure that students are provided with every opportunity to reach their full potential!
