Mrs. Khoury - 1st Grade
Welcome back and Happy New Year. January and February are historically the months that I see the "lightblub" moment for my students and when they really take off with their reading fluency. I can't wait to help the students learn more phonics patterns as they journey in their reading adventure.
I am always looking for parents to volunteer help with sight words and math facts. Please let me know if you are available to volunteer during the day, or at home.
No Matter Where I Go, Learning is My Destination!
Welcome to Mrs. Khoury's First Grade class, let the adventure begin! I am so excited to begin my second year at Singing Hills as a first grade teacher. We have many exciting topics to explore this year and I can't wait to watch your child grow through a variety of hands-on, active learning lessons. First grade is such a huge educational growth year and I think you will be amazed at how much your child with learn over the next 9 months. Though this is my second year in first grade, I have many years experience in teaching. I have had the privilege of teaching Family and Consumer Sciences at Elizabeth High School for 4 years before staying at home with my children for the past 6 years. I have volunteered at Singing Hills for several years and I have also worked as a teacher assistant for part of 2017-2018 school year in first grade. I know this is going to be a great year!
I'll share just a little about myself, in case you are interested. I was born in Denver and raised in Elizabeth since the age of 5. I went to Elizabeth schools for all of my education, though Running Creek was my elementary school and Singing Hills wasn't even built until I was in 4th grade. I met, and fell in love with my high school biology partner, Trevor, and we married after graduating from Colorado State University. We returned to Elizabeth to raise our family, and our daughters are attending 1st grade and 4rd grade at Singing Hills this year! I guess you can say we are an Elizabeth family through and through! When we are not busy hanging out with our family and friends, we enjoy traveling all over the world. Our favorite location is currently Grand Cayman, but we are always looking for suggestions of new places to travel. We also spend a lot of our time renovating our farmhouse and taking on tons of DIY projects. I love baking and quilting and crafting in general!
I know what its like to be a parent and that you may have questions or concerns regarding your student. I want you to know I am here for you. There will be several ways to communicate with me, but feel free to email me until we are able to connect in person. firstname.lastname@example.org
