BA in English Education

Mrs. Livingston

Hi, EMS!

My name is Sabine Livingston and I will be the 8th grade ELA reading teacher. This is my first-year teaching at EMS, I have earned my bachelor’s degree in English Education from Valley City State University, and I am over the moon excited to work with the wonderful students and parents of EMS.

Fun facts about me: I’m originally from Ludwigshafen/Germany (Ja, I’m bi-lingual) and have been residing in the U.S for 18 years. My husband and I have three boys (18, 17 and 4), four dogs and two lizards. I used to be a Dental Assistant for 19-years until I decided to go back to college in order to earn my education degree. I absolutely love working with students, I like to travel, collect crosses from wherever we travel to, go on camping adventures with my family, read, attend concerts, bake, eat yummy food and relax. I am a very “bubbly” person, I enjoy reading biographies, I love everything “Space travel”, warm colors, blankets, candles, carbs (perhaps a little too much) and a lot of laughter.

Within this year, we will learn reading strategies that will prepare us for the big jump over to High School. We will delve into fun novels and projects, which will keep us on our toes. I strive to create each lesson to be interactive, entertaining and filled with purpose. As we all learn uniquely, each student will find a safe space to learn critical reading strategies on their own pace and it is my highest priority to guide each student to their readiness and success for the coming High School years.

My daily expectations of my students, and myself, are first and foremost, respect for others, school property and ourselves. Students should be ready to go by the time class begins, show effort, follow our daily procedures, and most importantly, advocate for themselves. I firmly believe that communication is key in all aspects of life, henceforth, we will learn to properly communicate and the importance of it. I have an open-door policy and I am always available via email as well.

I am very excited to dive into this year and I thank you for entrusting me with your student. If there are any concerns or topics I should be aware of in order to best help your student, please let me know.
