The Elizabeth School District is proud to highlight the ongoing efforts of the Elizabeth Police Department and the Town of Elizabeth in ensuring the safety of students during bus pick-up and drop-off times throughout the municipality.

Throughout this school year, the district has faced several incidents where drivers disregarded school bus stop signs and flashing lights, creating dangerous situations for students boarding and exiting buses. In response to these concerns, the Town of Elizabeth’s Public Works Department collaborated with the school district’s transportation team to identify designated bus stops across the municipality. As a proactive measure, the town installed new signage at key locations, enhancing driver awareness of potential bus stops and student presence in these areas.

In addition to infrastructure improvements, the Elizabeth Police Department has stepped up enforcement efforts by increasing patrols during school transportation hours and following buses along their routes. This initiative has proven highly effective, leading to appropriate action being taken against drivers who violate bus safety laws.

“The safety of our students is our top priority, and we deeply appreciate the commitment of the Town of Elizabeth and the Elizabeth Police Department in addressing these concerns,” said Tyler Rabideau, School District Director of Safety and Security, a representative from the Elizabeth School District. “Their dedication to protecting our students and holding drivers accountable has strengthened our partnership and made a meaningful difference in our community.”

The Elizabeth School District extends its sincere gratitude to both the Town of Elizabeth and the Elizabeth Police Department for their continued collaboration and commitment to student safety. This partnership exemplifies the power of working together to foster a safer environment for all.

The district urges all drivers to remain vigilant, obey traffic laws, and always stop for school buses displaying flashing lights and extended stop arms. Ensuring student safety is a collective responsibility, and the cooperation of the entire community is vital in maintaining a secure environment for the children of Elizabeth.
