Elizabeth graduation and growth data outpace state averages
Recently released data for 2023, shows the Elizabeth School District graduation rate (92.2%) continues to outpace the Colorado average (83.1%). Additionally, Elizabeth's completion rate, which includes High School Equivalency Degrees, was 92.9%. In 2022, Elizabeth's graduation rate and completion rate were 93.1% and 94.4%, respectively.
Chronic absenteeism -- students missing 10% or more of the school year -- was at an all-time high in Colorado in 2021-22, but dropped to 31% in 2022-23. In Elizabeth last year, 23.4% of students (560) were chronically absent.
Another way Elizabeth outperforms the state is in enrollment. Elizabeth's preschool-12th grade enrollment for 2023-24 is 2,614 and its K-12 enrollment is 2,480, both are increases over last year's counts of 2,474 and 2,335, respectively. Such growth is counter to the overall trend in the state, which was a decline of 0.2% students -- 1,800 fewer than 2022. The biggest statewide decreases were in kindergarten and first grade, according to data collected by the Colorado Department of Education.
