EMS robotics team earns award at competition
A team of six Elizabeth Middle School students earned the Judge's Review Award at the 2023 FIRST Tech Robotics Mountain Qualifier on Saturday, Jan. 28, at Glenwood Springs High School.
Julio Mata-Bautista, Amber Kraus, Ryan Tafoya, Bryan Ward, Matthew Webster and Skylar Whittaker were recognized for their outstanding teamwork and cooperation.
FIRST Tech Challenge teams can have as many at 15 members in grades 7-12. They design, build, program and operate robots to play a floor game. Guided by adult coaches, students hone a variety of skills and practice engineering principles while working hard, innovating and sharing ideas.
The robot kits each team uses can be reconfigured from year to year and can be programmed using a variety of computer languages. Students can achieve college scholarship opportunities through their participation.
Thanks to the team's coach/STEAM teacher Brandon Whittaker for sharing this news.
