Dan Snowberger selected as Elizabeth’s next Superintendent
March 3, 2023
The Elizabeth School District Board of Directors unanimously voted Thursday night to appoint Dan Snowberger as the district’s next Superintendent.
The Board conducted a special meeting at the district boardroom to hear public comment about the selection of the Superintendent. The room was packed with community members, many of whom offered their thoughts over the course of 45 minutes. After the community comment period, the board entered into executive session for about 30 minutes, then returned to open session. Director Heather Booth made the motion to appoint Snowberger and was seconded by Director Rhonda Olsen.
Snowberger is currently the Director of Education Operations at Education ReEnvisioned BOCES in Monument. He was a Zone Superintendent at Falcon School District 49 in Colorado Springs from 2021-2022 and Superintendent at Durango School District 9-R from 2012-2021.
Board president Cary Karcher told attendees at Thursday’s meeting that he spoke with Snowberger after the series of panel interviews at Elizabeth High School on Friday, Feb. 24, and he said Snowberger would be “very excited if we made the decision to move forward with him to come into the district.” Karcher said he would be in contact with Snowberger today.
The next step is to finalize a contract that will be brought to the Board for approval at its March 13 meeting.
