Cardinals learn about taking flight

Flight instructors from Wings Over the Rockies in Centennial visited Elizabeth High School on March 29 to talk about FAA Drone Certification training in the library during homeroom.

After some explanation of the basics of drone flight, the group of nearly two dozen moved to the gym and then outside to take turns flying drones, including with an augmented reality headset to give a first-person view from a drone's camera.

Wings over the Rockies provides a number of opportunities to students to begin working toward a variety of aerospace careers, including its Ground School program, a four-part training to introduce teenagers to the basics of becoming a pilot.

Thanks to Steve Beaudoin and Jacob Stephens for the information and photos.
