Superintendent Snowberger Visits Running Creek Elementary Dressed As Paul Bunyan

A visit from Paul Bunyan!

ESD Superintendent Dan Snowberger visited with Running Creek Elementary School 2nd graders this week dressed as the fictional book character of Paul Bunyan. This was part of the school's tall tales unit. The students were thoroughly entertained with the visit and as you can see, their teachers were dressed for the occasion as well!

Some fun facts about Paul Bunyan:

1) Many different towns claim to be the "home" of Bunyan. Some of those towns are in Minnesota, Michigan and Wisconsin.

2) There are huge statues of Bunyan in Akeley, Minnesota and Portland, Oregon. Another Bunyan statue in Klamath, California features a 49 foot Bunyan statue and 35 foot Babe the Blue Ox statue.

3) In 1960, there was a Mel-O-Toons cartoon titled 'Paul Bunyan'. The cartoon featured Bunyan batting cannonballs in the American Revolutionary War, sinking pirate ships and building the Big Rock Candy Mountain.

Thank you Superintendent Snowberger for dressing up and reading the book!
