All afterschool activities will be cancelled unless otherwise notified. Please do read the following message so that you can be adequately prepared.

URGENT WEATHER ADVISORY: ELBERT COUNTY RESIDENTS
Dear Elbert County Stakeholders,
We are reaching out to alert you to an incoming severe winter storm expected to impact Elbert County starting today, with snowfall continuing through late Saturday. The National Weather Service forecasts snowfall totals of 10 to 20 inches across our region, accompanied by potentially dangerous conditions. This substantial accumulation, along with high winds and low visibility, could make travel extremely hazardous and limit access to essential services.
School Districts and Community Alerts
In light of these conditions, we strongly advise all community school districts to cancel classes for tomorrow, Friday, November 8th, prioritizing the safety of students, families, and staff. Additionally, we recommend that all residents take action today, Thursday, November 7th, to secure necessary supplies—such as food, water, medications, and any other essentials needed to safely endure the storm.
Safety and Preparedness Recommendations
For safety, we are urging all residents to avoid travel throughout the duration of the storm and remain indoors as much as possible. Weather conditions may create impassable roads, and emergency response could be delayed due to the volume of incidents and challenging travel conditions. By staying off the roads, we help protect both the public and our emergency personnel
Stay safe, and let’s work together to weather this storm.
Warm regards,
Office of Emergency Management
