ESD Board Member Heather Booth announces resignation

Attention ESD Community,

At the ESD Board Meeting on January 13, 2025, board member Heather Booth announced her resignation from the Elizabeth School District Board of Directors.

Booth had been serving as Vice President of the board since April of 2023.  She was elected to the board in November of 2021.

“Heather was a dedicated board member who put her heart and soul into the leadership on the board,” says ESD Superintenent Dan Snowberger.  “Her service will be sincerely missed and we wish her well as she addresses her health needs.  We also know that she will remain a strong supporter of the school district.”

At the meeting, Booth read a letter describing her personal health struggles as the reason behind the resignation.

“Serving on this board has been a great honor.  Together, we’ve faced challenges, celebrated milestones, and worked tirelessly to improve the educational experiences of the students in our district.  It has been a true privilege to serve alongside such dedicated and passionate individuals.”

Anyone interested in filling the role can submit a letter of interest to the board clerk.  The deadline for submissions is Friday, January 24th by 5 p.m.

"As some of you may know, my MS relapsed about two years ago. At that time, I considered stepping away from the board but chose to remain, knowing how important it was to support the district during a challenging period. However, the time has now come for me to prioritize my health and place my trust in the board to continue its work with the same passion and dedication.

It is with a heavy heart that I announce my resignation from the Elizabeth School Board, effective at the conclusion of tonight’s meeting. This was not an easy decision, but health issues now require my attention this year, and I am confident this is the right step for me at this time."

Serving on this board has been a great honor. Together, we’ve faced challenges, celebrated milestones, and worked tirelessly to improve the educational experiences of the students in our district. It has been a true privilege to serve alongside such dedicated and passionate individuals.

Looking back, I am deeply proud of what we have accomplished together. We became the only school district in Colorado to have an armed security guard at every school, ensuring an additional layer of safety for our students. We approved a classical charter school, offering parents greater choice in their children’s education. We implemented a Parental Rights policy to empower families and secured a well-deserved pay increase for our teachers. We have fought hard to protect parental rights and get the focus back on academics where it should be. These achievements reflect the values and priorities of our community, and I am honored to have been a part of them.

I want to thank each of you for the support, encouragement, and collaboration you have shown me throughout my time on the board. It has truly been an honor to serve, and I will always cherish the work we’ve done together and the progress we’ve made for our schools and community.

Thank you."
