The Department has emergency funding available to help Elbert County residents and families who are
experiencing hardship in our community due to the impact of COVID-19.
• Funding is available to address issues of health, safety and/or well-being for individuals and families
experiencing financial hardship due to the COVID-19 Pandemic such as:
o Housing
o Utilities
o Prescription or medical supplies
o Transportation
o Food/nonfood items
• Applications for COVID-19 General Assistance can be accessed from the Elbert County website at – click on COVID-19 at the top of the page.
• Documentation needed for assistance will include:
o Signed application
o Statement that need/hardship is due to the COVID-19 Pandemic
o Photo ID
o Proof of Elbert County residency
o Proof of income.
o Proof of resources such as bank statements or other documentation showing available resources.
o Some applications may require additional documentation dependent on assistance requested.
• Funding is available through December 30, 2020 or until it runs out.
• All payments made require a completed IRS W-9 form and are paid directly to the appropriate payee
such as merchant/property owner/landlord//utility company etc.
• Benefits may not duplicate any other available resources program. Applicants may be required to repay
funds if duplicate benefits are received.
The Department of Human Services building is currently open by appointment only from 7:30am to 5:00 pm,
Monday through Thursday. The Department continues to provide services and information safely, online, by
