Mrs. Burton
Hi! My name is Laurie Burton. I've been teaching at Elizabeth Public Schools for 18 years. I worked with our ELL students in the district for 10 years before joining the SHE family as the Reading Interventionist. It is a joy to work on reading skills with small groups of students and I especially like using our Structured Literacy Program that benefits those who struggle with dyslexia as well as all kiddos.
I have 3 grown children that all live in the area. My husband and I have 2 grandkiddos that I'd be happy to show off their pictures when you have time! I enjoy baking, crafts, playing cornhole, taking walks and being active. We are from Nebraska so are Cornhusker fans, of course. (Even when they aren't doing so well!)
I welcome each moment I get to spend with your kiddos and try my best to support, motivate and challenge them to be the best they can be. Not only in reading but in growing to be a happy, healthy child. I welcome hugs, give smiles, and encourage communication. Always feel free to reach out to me with questions, suggestions or just to chat.

Learned Words are words that don't follow our regular spelling rules and cannot be "tapped." These words need to be practiced and memorized. You will notice some words on these lists will become decodable as the students progress through the grades.
