Welcome Turtle Families
Ms. Amanda and Ms. Joan are pleased to have you in her classroom!
Our goal is to provide a safe, nurturing environment using structured activities and play-based experiences to prepare children for life-long learning. We use a theme-based curriculum, which is research-based and developmentally appropriate. Our program utilizes Teaching Strategies GOLD to assess, monitor, and track the growth of each student while providing all-inclusive instruction to meet the individual goals of each student.
We offer a full-day program.
Monday through Thursday 7:45am- 3:15pm.
What Turtles Are Learning
-
We are finishing with the “Beginning of the Year” study. Our theme for this month is Health, Nutrition and Exercise, and the Five Senses. We will read books and do activities to learn about these concepts. Other things that we will be learning about in the next 4 weeks are the letters F, E, H, and T. The numbers 1, 2, 3, and 4. The colors are blue, yellow, green and pink. The shapes are square, triangle, oval, circle and heart. There is also a lot of other learning taking place while we play and interact with others.
The children will also be learning Zoo Phonics. They will be learning and understanding about each letter and the sound that each letter makes. Our handwriting will be starting with the Handwriting Without Tears Curriculum. All letters are formed with Big Line, Little Line, Big Curve, and Little Curve. All letters start at the top. For our younger children, we are offering pre-writing skills. All children are working on building fine motor skills and building the muscles in their hands.
