Before becoming superintendent in Elizabeth, Bissonette led a small, rural school district to become one of Colorado’s top performers. During his six years as superintendent in Ridgway, he led efforts to attract and retain high-quality educators, broaden the scope and improve the quality of the curriculum, and introduce innovative programs for students, including individual learning plans for every student. Bissonette started his career at Boston University where he coordinated orientation and intercultural programs for more than 3,500 international students from over 100 countries. Raised in the Napa Valley, after two years as an Enology major at University of California, Davis, Bissonette decided not to join the family wine business (Chateau Chevalier) and instead decided to pursue a career as an educator.
