Dr. William Dallas, Interim Superintendent

  • Dr. William Dallas was appointed interim superintendent in June 2022. Prior to being selected to serve as interim superintendent, Dallas has served education for the past 20 years as a teacher, school administrator, and as an adjunct university professor.

    Dr. Bill DallasMost recently, Dallas led Fountain Middle School to become one of the top middle schools in El Paso County. During his six years as principal at Fountain Middle School, he led efforts to establish a strong culture anchored on serving students; pioneered instructional systems, postsecondary readiness and competency-based grading; and served as the lead project manager in the construction of a new 250,000 square-foot campus. These efforts led to Fountain Middle School being one of only two middle schools in Colorado to be selected as a 2021 National Trailblazer School to Watch by the Colorado Association of Middle Level Education, and 2021 Best Middle School in Colorado Springs as awarded by the Colorado Springs Gazette.

    In addition to his experience as a school leader, Dallas is recognized as an accomplished educational author and researcher producing materials related to Colorado school finance, post-secondary readiness, competency-based grading, and more. Dallas has previously served as president of the Colorado Association of Secondary School Principals, and led state and national legislative advocacy efforts related to safety and security in schools, school funding, and educator evaluations.

    Dallas and his wife are originally from Michigan where he studied genetics and wildlife biology at Lake Superior State University in Sault Ste. Marie. They share two wonderful daughters, and together they enjoy traveling and the Colorado outdoors. For hobbies, Dallas enjoys skiing, running and biking. He has competed in three Ironman Triathlons as well as numerous other races including marathons and ultramarathons.

    He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Lake Superior State University, a Master of Arts in Educational Leadership from the University of Colorado Colorado Springs, and a Doctorate of Philosophy from the University of Colorado Colorado Springs.
