This committee composed of parents, teachers, administrators, and community members will review proposed changes in our curriculum materials and make recommendations to our board on future adoptions and purchases.
Standard BCRC Charges from Bylaws

School and district leadership are responsible for identifying and selecting curriculum and textbooks/materials, and for making a recommendation to the superintendent for consideration of adoption by the Board of Education. Once the recommended selection of curriculum and/or textbooks/materials are determined by school and district leadership, the BCRC will review and provide feedback related to curriculum and textbook/materials prior to being recommended to the Board for adoption.

Report twice annually to the board on the work of the committee.
Specific BCRC Charges for 2023-24 School Year

Become informed about current curriculum resources used within our schools, including changes made for the 2023-24 school year.

Learn about the new electronic tools being implemented this year to increase transparency between our classrooms and our community.

Review, with administration, gaps in our academic achievement and consider whether current resources provide adequate support in those key areas.

Engage librarians across the district to gain an understanding of how books and resources are selected for the library and what decision-making process exists regarding the materials.

Consider process by which controversial materials in our libraries are accessed by students and determine if any changes are recommended to this process.
