Thank You for visiting my webpage!
My name is Derek Spohn and I ask that the Automotive department students call me just "Spohn." I have been fortunate enough to fill many different positions within the automotive field. I started out at 19 years old with a company named Rad-Air in the Cleveland OH area. I was a year out of High School, with no idea of what I wanted to do for a living. Fast forward 26 or 27 years, and I have found a home at Elizabeth High School. As of the bginning of the 23-24 school year, I have been teaching High School auto shop for six years.
When folks find out what I do for a living, I often get asked "They still have that?" but I have almost never been asked why I teach instead of working as a technician or mechanic. The answer is simple! My goal is to provide students that may not go to college an alternate path to success. I do not want an automotive student to graduate without a clear idea of what their future holds.
