Mr. Keith Kirkland, MA, LSC, LPCC
Hey friend! I'm Keith Kirkland, and I’m proud to be entering my fourth year as a Licensed School Counselor (LSC) at Elizabeth High School in Colorado. In addition to my work in schools. Guiding and supporting students through their high school years is both an honor and a passion, and I’m fortunate to play a meaningful role in their journeys.
My path to school counseling has been anything but ordinary. Before stepping into education, I served 20 years in the United States Air Force, where I was responsible for the education and training of more than 5,000 service members. That experience shaped my leadership, compassion, and deep belief in the power of mentorship.
I hold a Master of Arts in Counseling from Adams State University (2025) and a Bachelor of Science in Information Technology from Colorado State University Global Campus (2018). I also earned Associate of Science degrees in Education Management and Aviation Maintenance Technology from the Community College of the Air Force (2013). My academic and professional background gives me a unique and well-rounded perspective when supporting the diverse needs of students.
At Elizabeth High School, I serve students with last names L–Q, English Language Learners (ELL), and our Foriegn Exchange Students. I’m fluent in Spanish, which helps ensure families and students can communicate clearly and confidently. I also love integrating technology into our counseling work—whether through digital tools, data-driven insights, or creative solutions to everyday challenges.
My counseling philosophy is all about seeing students for who they truly are—capable, developing young adults with immense potential. I strive to provide a balance of flexibility and structure, empowering students to take ownership of their lives, find their voices, and navigate tough moments with resilience and purpose.
Whether I’m helping a student make a post-secondary plan, troubleshoot academic challenges, or just lending a supportive ear, I aim to be more than a counselor—I aim to be an advocate, a tech enthusiast, and a positive presence in their lives.
