Welcome to Psychology 2 - Spring 2025
Psychology II is a lab and discussion-oriented class for students who are interested in pursuing a career in or are interested in the biological sciences, social work, counseling, or psychology. Students will be familiar with and abide by the American Psychological Association Code of Ethics. Students will review famous experiments and evaluate them for ethics, purpose, results, and what further research comes from those experiments. Students will become more familiar with and conduct explorations in classical and operant conditioning, case studies, diagnostic assessments, and naturalistic observations.
Course Objectives:
Upon completing Psychology II, students will be able to...
- Analyze and critique advanced psychological theories and concepts.
- Apply research methods and analysis to design and conduct psychology experiments.
- Understand the impact of culture and diversity on human behavior.
- Evaluate the ethical considerations and limitations of psychological research.
- Demonstrate improved critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
What's Coming Up
When we return to class on January 7, 2025, the class will review Psychology 1 content to lay the foundation for the semester's future work and assignments. Students are encouraged to share their specific interests in the field of psychology. The course has the flexibility to cover specific areas of interest the students would like to explore and learn more about. I will do my best to keep the website updated throughout the semester.
Parent/Guardian Engagement and Classroom Transparency
My philosophy is that there is a partnership between the student, parents, teacher, and the school to prepare the students for life after high school. I invite parents to visit the classroom, attend parent/teacher conferences, regularly view Infinite Campus (IC) for your child's academic performance, and Google Classroom to view the content, resources, and videos used to support your child's learning. I look forward to our partnership this semester.
"Students are at the heart of everything we do."
