    COURSE DESCRIPTION:

    Aviation History is a one-semester class focusing on the development of flight throughout the centuries. Science-based hands on exploration lessons on flight and design are incorporated into the class. 

     

    COURSE OBJECTIVE:

    Aviation History is a one-semester class focusing on the development of flight throughout the centuries. Progressing from nature, ancient civilizations, the renaissance, lighter than air craft, the Wright brothers, military aviation, commercial aviation, to space exploration. Lessons incorporate historical information about an individual’s contributions and milestones in aviation. Science-based hands on exploration lessons on flight and design are incorporated into the class. Opportunities to meet with current pilots and field trips to Wings Over the Rockies, Airports, and the Air Force Academy would be included in the class. The final project would allow students to demonstrate a science-based understanding of flight or a social studies-based understanding of flight. Students could then receive either social studies or science elective credit for the class.
