Welcome to the World Language Department's Course Catalog
Spanish is an academic subject that means the first contact with a foreign language and culture for most of our students. Learning a second language implies overcoming bias, a better understanding of different cultures and better opportunities in the job market. These valuable skills students acquire are the result of a steady work that implies a high level of interaction with their peers and attention to detail in spelling, proper use of grammar and pronunciation. Good results can only be obtained by persistence in the study, as students move from one Spanish course to the next building upon their previous knowledge. It is therefore important to underline that memorization and review of past content are a must in order to succeed at any level.
Many colleges in Colorado require students to have two credits of world languages. Students who intend to complete four years of Spanish are recommended to enroll in Spanish in their freshmen year, while those with a different plan can attend classes at a later stage.
We live in a changing community and the number of Hispanic students at Elizabeth High School is growing. These students are required to take a placement test before enrollment so that they can take a course that fits their needs and provides them with better growth opportunities.
