    COURSE DESCRIPTION:

    Independent Study 2D Visual Arts is and advanced course intended for students who are seeking the opportunity to explore and develop their own personal artistic process. Students will work with the teacher to develop a course of study that provides structure, critical feedback and measurable goals. Emphasis will be placed on the exploration of personal themes and concepts and refinement of process in the service of producing finished professional quality artwork.
     

    COURSE OBJECTIVE:

    • - To give students the opportunity to engage in an independent self-determined structured exploration of their own personal artistic process.
    • - To refine students’ ability to critically and constructively analyze their own work and the work of others and to be able to discuss their analysis in a productive manner
    • - To support the students’ study with constructive critical analysis and instruction where needed, and to educate the student about artists whose work has direct relevance to the work of the student
    • - To provide a structured schedule and environment with critical feedback that allows the student to measure their progress and maximize the quality of their self-directed learning

    OPEN TO GRADES:  10, 11, 12

    RECOMMENDED GRADES:   11, 12

    PREREQUISITES:  Advanced 2D
