    COURSE OBJECTIVE:

Conceptual Language Arts is a Language Arts class designed for the students who are participating in the 11-12 Alternative Education Program. This course meets the Colorado State Standards for reading and writing including grammar and vocabulary, research, and communications while approaching these skills in a unique way using Project Based Learning and Experiential Based Learning. Lessons are themed based in design exploring overarching concepts while engaging in/with hands on field experiences, guest speakers, and technology. This class also meets the EHS Graduate Profile goals and makes real world connections. The classroom environment is designed for a smaller group of less than 16; this allows time for one on one instruction and relationship building with the student and teacher. This one on one relationship helps to foster success for each student - meeting students needs where they currently are - not where they should be. This class also includes no less than 2 field trip experiences. Notebooks and supplies will be provided for each student.
