    COURSE DESCRIPTION:

    A year long introduction to the basics of chemistry for students looking to earn a college degree, but not in the maths or sciences, or a career in science that does not require a college degree. Some math will be required and laboratory participation is expected.

     

    COURSE OBJECTIVE:

    High school topics such as dimensional analysis, mixtures and substances, subatomic particles and the structure of the atom, ionic, covalent, and metallic bonding, the mole, chemical reactions, and states of matter will be covered. Additionally, college topics such as gas laws, acids and bases, and nuclear chemistry will be introduced.

     

    OPEN TO GRADES:   11, 12

    RECOMMENDED GRADES:   11, 12

    PREREQUISITES:  Physical Science, Biology, Algebra II or teacher recommendation.

    MAY REPEAT FOR CREDIT:  No
